In sunny south Florida, Amelia Earhart Park meets a need for community members by combining accessibility, fitness and fun!
This project features the patented Signature Accessible Line (U.S. Patent 9,079,069 and 11,130,039), which allows people in wheelchairs to exercise without having to transfer. This makes the fitness zone more inclusive and allows for friends and family members of all abilities to exercise together.
For more advanced users, a Functional Fitness Rig is also available. This 11-user unit adds the opportunity for a calisthenics type of workout and gives the outdoor gym a well-rounded approach to fitness.
Amelia Earhart Park impacted the community, and it was noticed by the project planners.
“Immediately, it was well received by the public, and we were kind of taken aback a little bit by how much this need was unmet in the community,” said Michael Houle, Miami-Dade Parks, Rec & Open Spaces.
